“Since I can remember I have been compelled to record what I see, feel and imagine and expressing this through drawing and painting. Whether it be in a busy city, in rural town and countryside or dreams and fantasy”
David’s work is diverse and exploratory. His previous work has mainly centred around the landscape and exploring mood and atmosphere within the landscape genre. Out of this have come paintings inspired by the theme of Inner and Outer Worlds- these paintings are as a response to David’s interest in the nature of human consciousness, the spiritual realms and the new discoveries in the nature of reality and the universe. As part of this exploration, David is also completing smaller works based around the I Ching or Book of Changes.
More recently, David has been inspired to paint portraits concerned with social and world order, the role of mass media and the human condition. The portfolio called Facing It explores political world leaders and players in the social and political theatre. Aside this, David is painting other portraits of colleagues, friends and family and taking on portrait commissions.
David is currently one of the artists-in-residents at the Willow Gallery, Oswestry and tutor in workshops at the gallery. He has exhibited widely and is self published.
David welcomes all requests for commissions and opportunities to exhibit.
